Phi Phi Leh

Viking Cave

A sea cave known for its old ship drawings and the swiftlet nests harvested for bird's nest soup — seen from the boat.

Updated 1 min read

Viking Cave sits at the foot of the cliffs on Phi Phi Leh's northeast corner. It takes its name from old drawings of ships on its walls, which early visitors thought looked like Viking longboats.

The cave is better known locally for its swiftlet nests, collected from bamboo scaffolding for the prized delicacy of bird's nest soup. Visitors can't go inside, but almost every tour slows down or pauses in front of it for photos.
